Now Trending:Destination Swimwear
swimwear: c/o target (top and bottom | onepiece)
This past week was "Spring Break"...though I haven't had a Spring Break in 8 years I couldn't help but to start thinking about summer and swimsuit season. These pictures were taken in part of Target #NOFOMO campaign (you can read about it on my instagram), but I wanted to repost this since I can not wait to actually wear these swimsuits this Summer. I haven't worn a one piece in YEARS. But the palm leaf print (get it here) totally spoke to me. I'm loving that the one piece has been updated with lower backs and cut outs (like this one and also this!). As far as bikini's go I've been more into the sporty looking tops (love this Free People top) and higher waisted bottoms (like these). Though I we don't have any beach vacations planned, I can not wait to spend my summer weekends at Rockaway Beach and hitting up my favorite spot, Rockaway Surf Club.

Weekend Wear: Black & Blue
Shirt: Anthropologie (old similar style here) | Jeans: Madewell | Shoes: Steve Madden | Bag: Topshop |
Necklace: Forever21 (old similar style here and here) | Sunglasses: Feathers Boutique
I was hoping that this weekend would have been a little warmer. I've been spoiled with the random high 60s into 70 degree weather. But at last it wasn't...but for Easter I wanted to bring in some sort of Spring feeling into my look. So I broke out my soft chambray flutter top from Anthropologie and leopard print flats for Easter lunch with the family.

Style Guide: What's Old is New Again
I think there's a lot of pressure on fashion bloggers to have the newest clothes...and sometimes the most expensive trending pieces. For me I'm not the girl to go out and buy the Chloe Drew Bag or not re-wear or re-photograph certain items. For me fashion is all about having items in your closet that you can re-wear and re-work. Here on FNYG you'll see jeans (like these Forever21 jeans) reworn, sweaters worn to death, and shoes on repeat. It's all about switching up accessories and knowing how to rework a look.

Use accessories to help restyle an old piece. I've had this H&M sweater (similar style here) for years but worn with a bandana it gives a whole new feel, especially as bandanas are back in style (and are cheap to buy). Hats and sunglasses are my weakness, but simple little pieces can make a difference in a whole look. Buy classic prints. Stripes and polka dots will never go out of style. Sweaters and shirts in these prints can be worn multiple ways. Pair with a pair of ripped jeans for a downtown cool girl look, or mix prints with a different printed skirt. Sometimes a handbag that is simple and neutral is best. We all want the statement piece but sometimes the best bags are ones that can go with any look. I love my little Coach bag that I've had for sometime now, as it can easily be thrown into rotation and mixed with my looks.

Style Guide: How To Wear a Basic White Tee Like a Bro
Is there anything more classic then a plain white tee? (And if any of you are now singing Hey There Delilah then we are spirit animals). Basics are the perfect building piece for any look as you can layer different details to make up your look. The plain white tee is my go to shirt for those I have "nothing to wear" days. They can be dressed up for work, play, or anything in between.

Inspirational Monday: Ultimate Packing Guide for SXSW
This weekend kicked off the festival in Austin, TX and tomorrow is everyones favorite portion of the festival: the music. Which to me is the official kick off to the music festival season. Whether going to Austin to visit the city or heading down to catch some shows there are some things that you need to make sure to pack:
1. Fringe Jacket. Is there anything more festival ready then a fringe jacket? This Blank NYC jacket will take you from SXSW to Coachella to where ever else this summer takes you. A fringe jacket is the perfect street style look that pairs up well with a day dress to a pair of jeans to cut off shorts.
2. Bucket Bag. Pack a bucket bag to carry all of your essentials. These bags go with every look, from boho chic to classic feminine. This See by Chloe bag is the perfect mix of sleek and boho.
3. Cowboy Boots. Like they say...When in Texas wear cowboy boots. If you don't pack a pair don't worry Austin has you covered. You'll find some great cowboy boot shops where you can pick up a pair of authentic Texan boots.
4. Tribal Jewelry. Simple pieces can really make a statement. Make a statement with a hand chain. They are also perfect for packing as you don't have to pack a bunch of different bracelets and rings.
5. Boho Dress. Nothing says free spirit like a boho dress. You can have fun taking a boho dress like this Free People from day to night. Go from cowboy boots for a day about town to a pair of heeled booties and motor jacket for a night of live music.
I totally wish I was packing-up for SXSW. If your heading down to Austin make sure to checkout my Austin Travel Guide...and PLEASE eat all the Torchy Tacos for me!
What would you make for SXSW?

Fitness 101: Apps to Help You Stay in Shape
Apps are a great tool to help you stay in shape and stick your goals. I love using fitness apps to help switch up my routines and keep me on track. Checkout some of my favorite fitness that help me stay in shape.
1. Yoga Studio. I try mixing in different workouts in my weekly workout routine. During the week I typically stick to strength training and cardio workouts. Weekend mornings I like to decompress and stretch out from the week at home with some yoga. For me yoga at home is more zen. I feel more comfortable rolling out my mat and setting up in my living room. I love using the Yoga Studio app. This app has different classes for different levels, minutes, and meditation classes. They have a library of 280 poses in which you can create your own yoga class with poses you want to do. Not only does it have a wide selection, I like the pace that it goes at, it's slow enough to follow along with and to do the poses correctly while getting a good work out. Also the music and the tone of the instructor are soothing.
2. Nike Training Center. Nike Training Center (NTC) is like having personal trainers in your pocket. They have different levels of fitness along with different areas of training. With the exercise class you can see what exercises are including as well as step by step instructions and video. If at any time during your class you need a refresher on the move you can stop and watch the video again. I like to use NTC's short workouts (12 to 15 min) before a short run so can focus abs, legs, or arms before getting some cardio in. They have longer workouts 30 to 45 mins for those who want a full workout in. I also like to breakout this app when I can't make it to the gym. They have workouts where all you need is mat.
3. My Fitness Pal. If you are looking to lose weight My Fitness Pal is a great tool to help you on your journey. My Fitness Pal is basically an electronic food journal. It helps tracks your calories as well as log your exercises and water intake. It matches what your daily calories to your weight and to to your goal weight. This is a good tool to learn how to eat correctly, what calories are bad and which ones are good. It's also interesting to see what you are really putting into your body and holds you accountable for it. You can also sync up other apps and devices to your My Fitness Pal. One feature I really love is the bar scanner! If you are eating something like a Luna Bar you can just scan the bar code and it will provide all the nutritional information for you. Then all you have to do is save it to your food diary!
4. FitBit. Okay so it's not just an app and you actually need the FitBit band. But both have kept me active. Ever since I got a FitBit I've made it a point to get up and walk around. I feel like a bum if I don't go for a walk during lunch. I also love checking my FitBit app after workouts to see where my heart rate peaked and how many calories I burned.
Do you use any fitness apps? Which ones?
Jacket: Zara | Sweater: Lululemon | Pants: Nike | Sportsbra: c/o Onzie | Boots: Zara | Bag: Lululemon |
Sunglasses: Call It Spring | Scarf: Urban Outfitters
1. Black Leggings. I'm such a New Yorker that even my workout gear is mostly grays and blacks. With that said black sport leggings are perfect to take from the studio to brunch. They are inconspicuous and go with everything. Some of my favorite brand leggings are Nikes, Lululemon, and Under Armour.
2. The Sweater. Though its warming up here in the city over the weekend it was still quite chilly. In order to go from yoga studio to bottomless mimosas you need a chic sweater to do so. Lululemon is my go to place for all things chic, sporty and comfortable. This top is super soft, comfortable and chic.
3. Footwear. Skip the sneakers and go for boots. Luckily with yoga there's no need to wear sneakers. I dressed up my look with a pair of studded boots from Zara. Plus boots and leggings are made for each other.
4. Swag Bag. I skipped lugging around a huge bag and opted for a yoga strap back with a pouch to keep all my essentials (phone, credit card, make-up bag with refresh wipes, lipstick, hair clips, and eye liner).
5. The Cherry on Top. Is there anything more chicer then a biker jacket? Or more street wear? Leather jackets toughen up any look, while given you major street cred.
