Weekend Wear: SoHo Afternoons
Coat: Tahari | Sweater: Urban Outfitters | Pants: H&M | Shoes: Shoemint | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff |
Sunglasses: Call It Spring
I've always loved SoHo but working in the area has really given me a new found appreciation for the area. During the summer I would spend my lunch hour just wandering around SoHo, NoHo, and Tribeca just getting "lost." When I would come to SoHo I would always visit the same area Broadway and West Broadway but now I feel like I know the area more and love the small side streets and boutique stores. I love coming the area on my days off and truly appreciating SoHo in all its beauty.
How was your weekend?

NYFW: Georgine Fall 2016
If there is one designer I look forward to seeing each and every fashion week it would be hands down Georgine. I was so disappointed last season when I had to miss her show because of school (damn me for being a good student). Luckily for me, her show was on a Tuesday night, a school free night! And this show was one not to miss. Georgine Ratelband's girls' middle name is Cool, she has a bit of an edge and a whimsicalness to her. This season Georgine played on the idea of a "modern day fairytale." She went back and re-read all of the classic fairytales from the Brothers Grimm (the folklore writers of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.). What would Little Red Riding Hood wear today? A fur lined (probably from the big bad woof) red parka of course!

One of my favorite looks was the play on Snow White with a cute quirky shirt with Grumpy written across it. I love the badass nerdy vibe to the whole collection. Who knew looking nerdy looked so good? Plus, loving the dark lip matching the dark eyes...I just wish I had a make-up artist do it for me. Every time I try a dark eye, I end up looking like a raccoon.

NYFW: Michelle Helene Fall 2016 Fashion Week Debut
Michelle Helene launched her line Fall 2014, but made her first New York Fashion Week debut on Saturday. Models with rosey red cheeks made their way from the cold into backstage area of Pier 59 Studios to get their hair (by Prive) and futuristic make-up done by MAC artist. Luckily for all of us it was warm and cozy, and even better for the models that Michelle's line was full of knit wear and bad ass boots. She describes her line "easy meets sexy and goes global." And this line is just that with the mix of tribal prints and easy streetwear flare. Michelle makes sure that her line doesn't only embody her vision but focuses on her customers, "I believe this goes back to making pieces that my customer sees as an extension of themselves, I want them to feel unique but natural all at the same time."
I love seeing new designers as I feel like they are not in any constraints and they are just starting to find their voice. Though Michelle has had her line for a couple of years now, this debut is a strong one. It shows that she understands her woman, a strong confident women that likes to play with streetwear. It's hard to pick out my favorite pieces from this collection. I absolutely loved both long blue knit sweater dresses. The pinned detail in both of them stood out to me. And there was the plaid jacket and matching pants. This whole look was so urban streetwear, and could be worn by any women right now. That's what I loved most about this collection, it had this strong streetwear look but could be worn by all different types of women.

What I Wore to Day 3 of NYFW Fall 2016
Jacket: c/o Lulus | Sweater: Zara | Jeans: Madewell | Boots: c/o Ted & Muffy | Hat: made by my friend Pamala |
Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Sunglasses: Call It Spring
Winter always comes creeping around during NYFW. It was just like two weeks ago where it felt like spring...but it never last for NYFW. Saturday was bitterly cold and layers were necessary. So the secret to layers were doubling up on turtlenecks (yes I actually had another thinner turtleneck under my Zara sweater) and tights under my ripped jeans with boots.
How do you wear layers during the winter?

NYFW: Jay Godfrey Fall 2016
There were two looks that stood out to me the most: the pink 70s style bell flared sleeve dress and the emerald green cape jumpsuit. Both these looks to me screamed feminine retro flare. I could see Emma Stone rocking the hell out of the green cape jumpsuit.

What I Wore to Day 1 of NYFW Fall 2016
Hip Hip New York Fashion Week! Hip Hip New York Fashion Week! So this season I said I'd try a little harder to attend more things then I did last year. It also helps that my classes are on Wednesday and Thursdays...Plus having President's Day off is super helpful. Yesterday I kicked off NYFW with this little outfit. I got super lucky with these pants. My manager at work hit up the Zara sale and she bought these pants...but didn't fit her so I got to nab them! I obviously couldn't wait to Spring to wear them. The length and color paired perfectly with my Ted & Muffy boots! I wore this look once before to work and knew that I had to wear it again for fashion week.
