This weekend the husband and I had a little date night in Forest Hill, Queens to see the Alabama Shakes in concert. I have been wanting to see them forever now, especially after the husband got to see them at JazzFest in NOLA for his bach party. So Saturday night we took a trip out to Queens to see them at the Forest Hill Stadium, which is an outdoor stadium hence the scarf. It always amazes me when a band or singer can sound just like their recordings live. Brittany Howard, lead singer of Alabama Shakes, has probably the best voice of our time right now. I mean holy smokes this chick can sing. I love the bluesy tones that are also reminisce of the late 1960s early 70s rock music. Alabama Shakes has been on repeat since their Sound & Color cd was released. It's just a cd that is easy to come back to listen to. If you haven't given them a listen I highly recommend you do.
Anyway...This is what I wore to the concert. I picked up these amazing leather boots at the Flux Magazine General Store Closing Party Thursday night. These boots are 100% leather and from my favorite place in all the world, Hawaii. The best part was that these bad boys were 60% off! You know me, I love a good deal. They super comfortable and now will be my go to boot.
How was your weekend?
so pretty look ; -))

Gahh that's so awesome you saw them live!! They're one of my favorite bands, her roaring voice never fails to put me in a good mood. Have you ever heard of The Head and the Heart? They're not exactly similar, but they have that same bluesy, southern vibe.
ReplyDeleteAnd yaaay for booties on mega sale! No more satisfying feeling :)
No I never heard of The Head and the Heart now I'm going to go look them up. Btw have you listened to Brittany Howard's side project Thunderbitch? They have their music streaming on their site. It's a more rocker vibe but still so good.
