Weekend Wear: Fairytale Boot
Shirt: Zara | Jeans: LF Store | Shoes: c/oTed & Muffy | Sunglasses: H&M | Bag: c/oAuster
In the city we get a good couple of weeks of Fall weather before we hit our winter weather. So I take advantage of the low 70s to wear more Fall like clothing...even in these temperatures you can feel the crisp air. I couldn't wait to wear these two pieces any longer. I'm so in love with these Ted & Muffy boots. From the color to the feel. Ted & Muffy are a UK based brand that is not only about making fashionable shoes but are also about making them fit perfectly for you. And you imagine getting a boot that is your actual calf size? Now you can! You can also get them in the width of your foot. Seriously, these shoes are a fairytale fit. Wore them all day on Saturday from walking around trying different beers at Brooklyn Pour to going out to dinner with husband for my birthday. I'll apologize ahead of time since these will probably be shot to death.
What pieces can't you wait to wear this fall?

30 Before 30
I celebrated my 29th Birthday on Saturday...which honestly I can't believe. I remember when I was a kid I thought by 30 I would have my life so figured out and when I was 29 I would have a baby. Yes even as a kid I thought 29 was a good age to have a baby, which I think it is if you are in the right place in your life to do so. Anyway, throughout my 20s I learned a lot about myself and the world that surrounds me. There are a few things that I would like to do before I hit 30 and thanks to Steffy's Pros and Cons and Wish Wish Wish for the idea of creating this list!
What's on your list?

Weekend Wear: Sound & Color
Shirt: Forever21 | Shorts: Urban Outfitters | Boots: Olukai (check them out here) | Bag: c/o Rebecca Minkoff |
Sunglasses: Feathers Boutique | Scarf: Topshop
This weekend the husband and I had a little date night in Forest Hill, Queens to see the Alabama Shakes in concert. I have been wanting to see them forever now, especially after the husband got to see them at JazzFest in NOLA for his bach party. So Saturday night we took a trip out to Queens to see them at the Forest Hill Stadium, which is an outdoor stadium hence the scarf. It always amazes me when a band or singer can sound just like their recordings live. Brittany Howard, lead singer of Alabama Shakes, has probably the best voice of our time right now. I mean holy smokes this chick can sing. I love the bluesy tones that are also reminisce of the late 1960s early 70s rock music. Alabama Shakes has been on repeat since their Sound & Color cd was released. It's just a cd that is easy to come back to listen to. If you haven't given them a listen I highly recommend you do.
Anyway...This is what I wore to the concert. I picked up these amazing leather boots at the Flux Magazine General Store Closing Party Thursday night. These boots are 100% leather and from my favorite place in all the world, Hawaii. The best part was that these bad boys were 60% off! You know me, I love a good deal. They super comfortable and now will be my go to boot.
How was your weekend?

Custo Barcelona Spring 2016
Custo Barcelona is always one of the brightest and happiest shows, no matter what the season is...and this season was no different. Designer Custo Dalmau debuted his Spring 2016 collection last Friday during NYFW, which he titled "Slow." This collection was full of colorful patchwork pieces that were cut into geometric shapes and fit together like a puzzle. This was intentionally done to go against fast fashion, and make pieces that would require hours of work to replicate.
What do you think of Custo Barcelona's Spring 2016 collection?

What I Wore to NYFW SS16
Sweater: H&M | Skirt: Forever21 | Shoes: Coach (va Burlington Coat Factory) | Bag: Rebecca Minkoff |
Sunglasses: Feather's Boutique
If you follow me on Instagram you'd notice that I laid low this NYFW. After covering it for 9 seasons, I needed bit of a break. So I welcomed a visit from my in-laws this weekend. Plus, with work and school my plate is pretty full. But if I was totally honest with you, I haven't really been all that excited about Fashion Week for a couple of seasons now. Don't get me wrong I love attending shows and I still get a thrill of watching beautiful clothes hit the runway. What I've noticed season after season is that a lot of people attend shows to be noticed. Getting dressed up isn't just about looking nice and fashionable for a show but it's all about getting snapped by Tommy Ton or Bill Cunningham or another street style photographer. Shows aren't about the designer or the clothes anymore, it's about getting seen, who's sitting front row and who isn't. It's about the who's who. This really isn't my style. Sure I've had my share of street style snaps but I don't wear anything that I wouldn't wear on any other occasion. Sure I have special fashion week looks, who doesn't want to look more fashionable? But I don't put much emphasizes on getting stopped or hanging outside in hopes of getting caught. I just feel like NYFW has lost touch with what it's suppose to be about. It also doesn't help that I feel like there is a problem with almost every show that I attend...from their being a "glitch in the system" to the PR company not sending confirmations to over booking shows. This season I was turned away from Alice + Olivia's show because a second PR company never confirmed anyone they sent out invites too. Fashion Week from the outside looks so glamorous and I'm sure it is for those bigger bloggers or celebrities but everyone one else it's just a hassle. Maybe February I'll feel different. With that being said I did make it out to a couple of shows and events this season that I could get to. I wore this look to Custo Barcelona on Friday before spending the whole weekend running around the city with my in-laws. I love this sweater from H&M so much that I wore it again Saturday night after the beach with a pair of cutoffs.

Never Ending Summer + a $50 Gift Card Giveaway to Pink Basis
The winter's so cold, summer's over too soon
Let's pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow
- "Swing Life Away" Rise Against
Labor Day weekend is always like the last hurrah of summer. It's the last long weekend of the warm days, the last chance to soak it all in before winters come. The husband and I took it all in by spending the day at Rockaway Beach. And what better way to bid adieu to summer then in a polka dot bikini. It might not be a yellow polka dot bikini but it is in my new favorite style...high waist bottoms. I've really gotten into high waist swimsuit bottoms as it hides my lower stomach, which I consider my "problem area." This swimsuit from one from Pink Basis is super cute, and totally my style. I love that I can mix and match this swimsuit with a lot of other ones that I have. If you're a total beach babe don't worry they have more your style.
PS Don't mind the huge band aid on my shin...Friday I was at the gym and totally ate it on a box jump. So I have a nasty bruise and cut. Better to have covered it up since I doubt anyone wants to see that.
Enter to win a $50 Gift Card to Pink Basis! If I had $50 to Pink Basis I would definitely get this off the shoulder top and these nude bow tie heels. Or if you are a planner...they even have Halloween costumes up already! Totally love this witch costume....never to early right?! Anyway...ONE LUCKY WINNER will be chosen at random. Contest ends Tuesday 9/22 at Midnight!

Foodie Friday: Healthy Smoothies with Greenblender
My smoothie box contained an interesting mix of veggies and fruits. One of the best parts about Greenblender is that the send you a list of recipes for your box of ingredients. If nothing tickles your fancy, you can go on their web page to find a listing of all their smoothie recipes (find it all here). If you're like me you might be hesitant of trying anything green...but this is the time to try it. You have all that you need and more.
Here a couple of recipes that I tried...plus one that I made up myself:
Cantaloupe Apple Ginger
1 1/2 oz Kale, stemmed
1 slice Cantaloup, chopped
1 apple, chopped
1/2 inch ginger,peeled
1 tsp spirulina
1tbsp coconut oil
1 cup water, 1 cup ice
Truth be told...I've never been a fan of kale OR green drinks. The color and the idea of green veggies being in a drink always threw me off. Though this drink is indeed GREEN and has kale in it...it doesn't actual taste green. From the cantaloupe and coconut oil you get this fruity drink feel.
Hibiscus Peach
1 1/2 oz Collard Greens
1 Peach, pitted
1 Banana, peeled
2 tbsp Hibiscus Flowers
1 tbsp Flaxseed
1 cup coconut
1 cup ice
Since the Cantaloup Apple Ginger recipe had me rethinking my initial thoughts about green smoothies I thought I'd give this Hibiscus Peach recipe a try. Plus, I like the Hibiscus donut from Dough Doughnuts. Anyway, the name has peach in it, it has peach in the recipe but I really couldn't taste the peach. For me it had a very strong banana taste, which I am not against by any means. But if you're looking for something peachy this is not it.
Thanks to Greenblender we had a lot of yummy fruit and veggies. Since we also had some fruit in our fridge that needed to be used I decided to blend up a little mix of my own, which I would like to call a Strawberry Medley.
Strawberry Medley
1 cup of Strawberries
1 cup of Mangos
1 handful of blueberries
1 handful of blackberries
1 tsp Flaxseed
1 cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 cup of ice
*optional for sweeter taste add a tsp of honey*
This was a fun take on our usual strawberry protein smoothies that we typically do. Since our Greenblender came with flaxseed I opted to not add our protein and add the flexseed instead, as it is a good source of dietary fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. This little medley mix was also super freshing.
