Shoesday: Bar III's Exciting Shoe Debut
On a very rainy Shoesday Tuesday night I made my way down to Chelsea to make the Bar III shoe launch held at the Milk Studios' Penthouse. Guest were greeted with cocktails, popcorn, and even ice-cream...really, this is how EVERY shoesday should be celebrated! It was dreary outside but inside was popping with live performances by MisterWives and Lily Lane.
Luckily for you, you don't have to wait to get your hands on a pair Bar III shoes. Bar III just launched their shoe line next month exclusively sold at Macy's and Macys.com! You can already find a few designs on sale now! Their shoes are budget friendly, priced from $49 to $99, and fall fashion ready. They have you covered from pumps to knee high boots. A couple of my favorite looks were the Gloria Pump, which is a great take on the Mary Jane shoe, and the leopard print peep-toe open back bootie.
What do you think of Bar III's launch? Will you be making any purchases?

Weekend Wear: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Hair by Lee (cut) and Ashley (colorist) at ARROJO
photos taken by Brian Cavanaugh
If you follow me on instagram/twitter you probably already saw that I chopped my hair and added some pink to the mix. I've been growing out my hair last summer for the wedding, and already knew that once the wedding was over I was chopping it off. I had this particular cut in mind for a few months and decided recently that I wanted to add a pop of color to it. Since I work in an office I didn't want to go to crazy with the color so I asked for subtle hints of pink from my colorist Ashley at Arrojo. I love that the cut and color is sophisticated, yet still fun. I feel so much better having all that hair off of me. I must admit the little bit of pink is making me crave more color...
Have you tried anything new with your hair?

Foodie Friday: Picnic Date
Every great picnic date should include fancy cheeses and bread...along with a little wine. My husband and I got a deluxe picnic basket for our wedding which we decided to take it for a spin on Saturday. Before our picnic date we picked up some delicious cheeses and salami from Stinky Brooklyn and breads from Union Market. We were bit of rebels and in snuck in mini tasting bottles of white wine to pair with our cheese and meat platter. It was the perfect date and weather. It was a little overcast so we didn't have the sun cooking us, plus we had the beautiful view of the city.

Cheese Platter: Brooklyn Slate | Picnic Blanket: Anthropologie

We love buying products locally. Find a local place that will allow you to do a little tasting of cheeses. We were able to taste the cheeses at Stinky before buying which was super helpful since we don't know much about cheeses, plus the guy behind the counter was super knowledgable of each of these cheeses which helped us make our decision. Buy breads nice and fresh from a place that either that does daily deliveries or bakes their own breads. These fresh products will make your date picnic even more special.

How to Wear Culottes During the Summer
Culottes have been around for a long time and many of us probably haven't worn them in years, like myself. This Spring they made a total comeback in a huge way. Designers have reinvented this trend from making them out of leather (these Adam Lippes Leather Culottes) to mesh (these Paul & Joe Mesh Culottes). But how can a real everyday woman wear this look?
How to Wear the Look:
Shirt: Tibi | Pants: H&M | Shoes: Dolce Vita | Bag: Coach | Sunglasses: Glow Accessories
photos by Brian Cavanaugh
Make this look work for the office by counter acting the wide leg with a more form fitting top. If you do a looser top make sure that it can tuck into your pants so that it can extenuate your hips, or find a top that cuts off right at the waist line. Crop tops are also perfect for a high waist culotte. This look is perfect for brunch. Pair your culottes with a pair of heels to elongate your legs.
Reasons to Love this Trend:
Culottes aren't only in for this season but for the Fall 2014 as well. These make the perfect transitional piece, they can be worn during those warmer fall days with a pair of booties and a sweater or on a more coolish day- with a coat (as seen in Derek Lam's Pre-Fall 2014 collection).
Are you rocking the culottes this summer?
