Themes of rebirth and resurrection inspired designer Ann Yee’s S/S 2013 collection. While spending some time in the Pacific Northwest after a fire destroyed her New York studio, Ann Yee was particularly influenced by the way weather changes the sea. The signature pattern of the S/S 2013 collection is based on a photo of tangled sea ropes found on a pier, and there were clear nautical elements to the collection such as the knotted rope necklaces and emphasis on knitwear. The mix of neutrals and bold colors was striking.
I was drawn to the structured, yet soft pieces, as well as the flowing silhouettes. My favorite look was a heather grey shorts suit with seafoam accents that had an air of casual refinement.
