How to Wear a Camo Jacket Two Ways

Camo Jacket 2 Ways

If you haven't noticed yet, the military chic look is back for Fall 2012. We are talking camouflage jackets, military greens, and cargo pants. More recently, there has been a rise of style bloggers rocking the camo jackets. I know what some of you are thinking...how does this fit into a practical woman's closet? The camo jacket is a masculine piece but when dressed accordingly and styled with the right accessories this jacket can take you from work day to weekend.

The Weekender:
The weekend is all about the casual and cozy pieces. And nothing is more casual then pairing up a camo jacket with your basic skinny jeans and a slouchy shirt. Remember when picking out a camo jacket you want to go with something bigger but bigger doesn't mean bulky. Trim down the bulk by going a size up in a woman's jacket, unless you find the camo jacket hangs loose on you. If you are doing a menswear jacket, like this Old Navy Camoflouge Shirt Jacket ($30), try to look for a size that hangs loosely on you without bulk. You want to be able to find yourself in the jacket, you just want to give your look a little hint of masculinity. Pair the rest of your look with feminine pieces like a detailed flat and your favorite hand bag.

The Worker: I'm a huge fan of playing with masculine pieces with feminine details. For the work day pair your favorite little black dress with flirty accessories and top it all off your camo jacket. Be bold in your accessories, choose shoes that have a vibrant color, like the red Zara Basic Sling Back heel ($50). Play with printed small details like a leopard print bracelet, this is a fun way to bring in some print blocking. This will jazz up your simple black dress when you don't have the jacket on, but also add a hint of femininity when paired with the camo jacket. Lastly, keep your hang bag sleek and simple.

  9. I love these different takes on the camo jacket. My first inclination would be that it wouldn't work for the office, but I think you've pulled it off nicely here.

  10. I'm loving camo at the moment too, I want a camo jacket badly but I haven't been able to find any good ones! Both looks are really great, I think 'the weekender' is my favorite by a really tiny amount though! It looks really quirky with the red boots & black shift, really unexpected way to wear it but it works beautifully! :)

  11. Heather, your advice is so true and so wise! Luckily, I got a camo jacket from Old Navy a while back (on sale), and I can't wait for cool weather so I can use your tips! Also, the red boots are STUNNING!
