Today was such a fail. The bf and I decided that today would be spent getting work done...we first tried going to a cafe much further away from us (about 30 minute walk)...Well who knew they were having internet problems so we couldn't contact to their WiFi. So we walked back towards our neighborhood to go to the Barnes and Nobles. Some of you may know this but I'm also a freelance writer for Tyra Banks' website TypeF so I was writing an article for that website...got it all done within an hour and a half to save and submit only for Barnes and Nobles to kick me back to their WiFi log in page. When I went back to the site where I write the articles nothing was saved. I almost cried. My head hurts now and I just feel drained. I'm 100% lucky to have an amazing bf who is now cooking me dinner. I'm looking forward to relaxing tonight. Tomorrow once again will be spent and dedicated to write the article that didn't save along with a few others. I hope your weekend is going better then mine!

Blazer: H&M
Shirt: Forever21
Skirt: No Name
Shoes: H&M
Necklace: Forever21
Bag: Zara

So this skirt was not my original planned skirt....ok it's not even what I originally even worn to work...for those of you who follow me on twitter (if you don't YOU SHOULD!). I some how managed to get gum on my skirt this morning. I don't know from where, I'm assuming from the nasty subway train. All I know is that as soon as I looked down at my skirt in the elevator at work there was a spot of gum on the front right side. As soon as I got upstairs I grabbed some ice and tried to ice it out...it didn't work. Thankfully there is that super cheap store right across the street from my office where I nabbed this skirt. That store is so clutch! I actually had three in my hand and ended up buying this one. More sadly they had this awesome colbert blue maxi skirt and they also had it in a grassy green color from New York and Company, but just like my luck this morning they didn't  have it in my size. But really I did get lucky with this skirt, $10 how can you go wrong!

What skirt was I orginally wearing you ask? My poka dot blue skirt from Forever21. It is now in the dry cleaners.

Anyway HAPPY FRIDAY!!! What do you have planned for the weekend?

Visual FBFF: Where the Blogging Magic Happens

This Visual FBFF is brought you by Suze of Miss Vinyl Ahoy. She asked all of us to share where we blog on a daily basis, wheather it's from our couch, in a cafe, or WHERE EVER. Okay to be honest I blog from two places one place is my own comfy couch in my living room and the other at work. Shhhh....

Mostly the magic happens from my couch. A lot of my visual postings like my outfit post come from home. I do have a desk and a chair, however since I have a mac laptop I sit next  to my boyfriend, who is on his laptop (he also freelances on the side but website/coding stuff) on the couch with my legs crossed and my mac on my lap with the TV on in the background. This is how most our nights and Sundays are spent. This is why I choose NOT to do any events or blog post on Friday nights and Saturdays (those days are meant for us).

Steal the Look for Less: Studded Shoes

Studded shoe are a great way to add edge to an over feminine look or a simple outfit. They can easily spice things up. Take for example Fergie and Cameron Diaz sporting their studded pumps with a basic t-shirt and jeans/shorts look. Fergie took hers to a rocker level with a band t-shirt and leather shorts. Meanwhile Brooklyn Decker looks dangerously sexy in her red leather dress...WOWZERS!

photo from people.com

Let's be honest we all wish we could afford Christian Louboutin's spiked heels (the Pigalle Spikes 120 studded leather pump goes for $1,095 on Net-a-Porter). Instead of dropping $1,000 how about spending anywhere from $30 to $300 on these kick ass studded shoes.

Hot Topic black stud mary jane platform heels-- $30 - hottopic.com; 3.  Jeffrey Campbell Elegant-St-- $152 - lorisshoes.com; 4.  Sam Edelman Lorissa Pump-- $183 amazon.com; 5. Urbannog Whip Studded Spiked Round Toe Pump-- $40 - urbanog.com

Now that you have a few choices to pick from how do you dress them up?!

Steal the Look for Less: Studded shoes by poetofsorts featuring leather bracelets

TopShop red cocktail dress, $90
Graphic tee, $25
Sheer black blouse, $58
Miss Selfridge white skinny jeans, £38
TopShop high waisted shorts, $76
Silver pumps, $40
Sam edelman shoes
Zara leather flat, $80
Black shoulder bag, £8
Studded satchel, $68
Forever21 clutch handbag, $11
Linea Pelle gold bracelet, $25
Sequin metal necklace, $58
H M leather bracelet, £3.99

Stealing Fergie's look is basic: take your favorite band t-shirt and pair them up with leather (or pleather) shorts. If you don't want to come accross to dark either stick with a lighter t-shirt or lighter shorts. If you don't want to do leather there is always the denim cutoffs. Do black studded shoes and black accessories like the R&Em Woodstook Satchel (this is the less expensive handbag line from Rebecca Minkoff exclusively found at Macys). The fun part of this R&Em bag is that it also has studded details that will match your studded shoes, plus it's only $68! Top it all of with a chunky chain necklace like the one from Nordstrom ($58).

If you want to look fierce like Brooklyn Decker then look no further then the little red dress. Red is the color of love and pure sexiness so why not put a little danger into it by pairing it up with spiked heels. When doing a red dress go for a lighter color heel like the Urbannog shoe. This has the perfect shade of gray to keep the red from poping. You don't want to do to many dark accesories since you want the red to really stand out. Like Decker do a bunch of strap bracelets with studs on them. My favoriet is the Stackable Skinny Cuff With Gold Dome Studs from lpcollection.com for $25 each. They come in perfect muted colors but dress up your arm. To keep the look from looking to colorful do a simple black clutch like the one from Forever21 ($11).

Spice up a black and white outfit! Instead of doing a simple black top opp for a top with more attitude like the one from Nasty Gal ($58). This shirt adds a bit a surprise with the open back slits and a hint of sexiness with it being a bit sheer. Do follow Cameron Diaz and pair it up with white jeans. You can stick with black pumps or to add more flare by doing a bright color shoe like the red Zara flat ($80). This option is also great for the gals that don't like to wear heels. Stick with dark accesories and a black purse.

What do you guys think of this trend? Would you rock the studded shoes?

Shirt: Zara
Skirt: American Apparel
Shoes: Nine West
Necklace: Starwberry's
Belt: H&M
Sunglasses: H&M
Bag: Zara
Earrings: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I was truly inspired by Savile's blog post yesterday on neon's and neutrals but sadly for reasons only known by the author, she has also decided to take a mini break from blogging :( But you can still see what I'm talking about on her Polyvore account. I love the idea of pairing up neutrals with neons. It's a great way to step up the color game but keeping easy going with the neutral palettes. If you couldn't tell I'm in love with these Nine West floral kitten heels. They really tie in everything the neon orange gets tied in with the blue in the shoes. I'm glad she inspired me to wear my orange shirt since I don't wear it nearly as much as I should. It's the New Yorker in me that is attracted to dark colors!

IFB Homework: Heat Waves

New York has been at it's hottest for the past few days now. Friday was at it's worst reaching 106 but feeling like 115! The only relief that could be found in the City was places with air conditioning like movie theaters...which the bf and I hit up. On the weekends (since I spend Monday through Friday in an air conditioned office building) I like to beat the heat out on the beach.

I sincerely wish I lived closer to a beach...it takes about an HOUR to get to ANY New York City beaches and about an HOUR AND HALF to get to any beach out on Long Island. To get the NJ shore it takes a couple of hours depending where you are going. This past weekend the BF and I went to Point Pleasant Beach in NJ to meet up with our friends. Well getting there proved to be a hassle with train delays. It took us and hour and a half long then it needed it to be so which was suppose to be a 2 and a half hour trip took about 3 to 4 hours. This trip was longer then it EVER needed to be but once we got there it was fun in the sun for sure. Sadly, I did not wear a bathing suit that would be able to tough it up against the rough waves. Anyway the point is the best way to beat the heat is to hit the beaches.

Heat Wave

Wildfox Couture print shirt, £65
One teaspoon shorts, $100
Juicy Couture nylon bikini, £65
Juicy Couture bandeau top bikini, £75
T KEES flat shoes, $55
Oakley logo handbag, $35
Ray-Ban black shades, €72
Chloe Must-Have Beach Towel In Straw Bag, £32
Beach Wear at LuLu*s|Beach Dresses & Beach Accessories, $10

I'm pretty sure if I lived anywhere near one I would live in a bikini, tank top, shorts, and flip flops. Honestly, on hot days anything more then this is to much. Even thinking about putting on high heels during the heat makes me sweat! I live in flip flops during the summer. I usually buy a few pairs at the beginning of the summer and wear them till they fall apart or it gets to cold to wear them. It's more amazing to me how summer flies when your grown up and working 5 days a week. So far my plan to try and spend each Saturday outdoors has been working out pretty well.

What is your favorite way to beat the heat?

Fashion 2.0 Blogging Your Way to the Front Row & Summer Soiree

On a hot sticky New York Wednesday night I found myself on a cool and chic rooftop bar, the Skyroom, for a Summer Soiree and a book release celebration by Yuli Ziv. Yuli Ziv is the founder and owner of Style Coalition and in charge of the meet-up group: Fashion 2.0. She now has put author on her resume as well. She just release her very first book called: Fashion 2.0: Blogging Your Way to the Front Row.

(above photo taken by Sunny Norton.... from left to right Jamall Oluokun from Papercutmag.com, Alex from start up apparel company Quincy, me!, and Nathalie who is a freelance worker who works with social media)

Unlike so many other blogging books out there this isn't about how to write a blog or even how to start a blog this is about how to turn your blog into something bigger-- making money from it and making it your career. I'm positive (since I know a few of you personally) there are other bloggers out there like me that want to make this their living and sometimes getting there is the hard part. I often sometimes get myself down, maybe not give up but it gets hard and lonely sometimes. Sometimes we see stats or down or we aren't getting the comments we want and we get discouraged. Well this book is all about reminding you that everything takes time and management. If something isn't working...change it. Keep in my that your blog is your business. I've only just started the book but I feel the wheels turning in my head about my own blog. If you want to turn your blog into your business I HIGHLY suggest you to go grab this book, a highlight, note pad, and pen. This book will keep you on your toes and thinking about your own blog!

The boy and I had a little date night Friday night; we went to Max Brenner (it's a dessert place but they also have an extensive food menu) and then we went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. I almost cried a couple of times through out the movie but I some how kept it all together. Anyway this was def. the best way to beat the heat Friday night. It was so gross and it was so hot that they let people in our work building leave early to conserve energy. Another great way to best the heat was going down to the shore on Saturday. We met a couple of our friends down at Point Pleasant Beach in NJ. It was so funny to see even kids walking around with gerenade horns (if you watch the Jersey Shore then you know what I'm talking about! If you follow me on twitter you would have seen the picture of the kid I found on the beach with one.

Anyway I hope everyone had a great weekend and is staying cool!

FBFF Day Off: What's in Your Bag?

So the FBFF group has decided that on it's days off that members of the community will come up with different visual projects to share. This week's FBFF's Day Off is brought to you by A Pretty Nest.

What's In My Bag!?

1. Burt's Bee Chapstick
2. YSL Le Orange Lipstick
3. Sephora Mirror
4. iPod
5. Camera
6. Keys (with A L O T of key chains)
7. Business cards (or blogging cards)
8. Fashion 2.0: Blogging Your Way to the Front Row by Yuli Ziv
9. Blackberry
10. Coach Wallet

My bag....not very excited. I usually switch bags ever so often and for the past few days I switched to my brown Zara bag...anyway....the contents are always the same. The 9 out of the 10 items can always be found in my bag. Okay 8 out of the 10 since I switch my lipstick around. Yuli Ziv's book is a new purchase which I bought yesterday at her Summer Soiree (which I can't wait to share with you) so that's the other one that's not always in my bag.

What's in your bag???

Steal the Stars Look for Less: Peachy Jeans

From fashion bloggers to celebrities peach colored jeans are everywhere. These colored jeans are perfect for the summer since they are light and bring in a feminine touch. They go well with other pastel colors, nude colors, and dark colored clothing like a demin top, which Whitney Port was seen rocking.

photo from people.com

Pastel jeans can be easily dressed up or dressed down, you can casually pair it up with a blazer or dress it down with a printed top.

Steal the Style: Peach Jeans

J Crew ribbed tank top, $9.99
TopShop denim shirt, $50
Wildfox Couture racerback tank top, $35
Lightweight jacket, $49
Forever21 lightweight jacket, $30
Pink skinny jeans, $60
Zara short jeans, $20
Skinny jeans, $80
Zara wedge shoes, $40
Zara wedge shoes, $40
Aldo shoes, $85
Valentino white shoulder bag, £43
Dorothy Perkins white shoulder bag, £25

When you have a darker pair of peach colored jeans like the Topshop Moto Peach Denim Baxter Classic Skinny Jeans (first to the left...$80) make sure to pair them up with lighter tones like a nude colored blazer and shoes. This will help keep the outfit looking light and airy. To keep the look dressed up do a high heel shoe like Zara Wedge Heel Boot (first to the left....$40).

To steal a page out of Whitney Port's book take your light pair of peach jeans and pair it up with a darker demin color shirt. For a total summer look do a cut off demin top like the Topshop Denim Tie Front Shirt ($50). Do a darker pair of shoes to tie it all together. You don't want to darken the whole look with dark tones so do a white bag to keep it looking fresh.

The summer months are usually to hot for a leather jacket but to pull off Leann Rimes look simply opt for a darker nude colored linen or fabric jacket, like the American Rag Coat from Macys ($49). Linen jackets are great for the summer months since they can take you from office ready to a night out. They are also light weight enough to take with you any where like a movie date or out to lunch with friends. To keep it totally casual and dress down do a printed top like the Wildfox Couture 9 Tank Top ($35). For a splash of color pick a shoe that has a bit of color in it like the Aldo Frankenberg Shoe ($85).
Are you feeling peachy? Would you rock this trend?

Outfit Post: Red Hot Summer

Dress: Amanda Uprichard
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Aldo
Bag: Marc By Marc Jacobs
Ring: Afaze
Sunglasses: H&M

This dress can't be any more perfect for the summer -- vibrant color, light weight, and loose fitting. Plus red never goes out of style. The boyfriend and I went to an MoMa art exhibit opening. I’m lucky that he works for a non-profit art foundation that we get to go to these art openings. It’s fantastic to see these art exhibits for free and get to experience the opening night. Nothing like free drinks and being able to sit out back of the MoMa garden taking in the hot NYC summer air. Being grown up at times has it’s benefits like tonight.
