Happy New Years Eve!
Happy New Year's Eve everyone! The boyfriend and I spent the day cleaning up the apt in prep of having friends over tonight and tomorrow. We are having a few out of town friends come up to our place to out in the City tonight so they are sleeping over. Then tomorrow is our annual Holiday dinner, which we all started senior year of college and have continued to host. So the bf and I did some baking and prep work for tomorrow night's dinner. We made peppermint bark fudge brownies, chocolate covered pretzels (made his way), and jalapeno wantons.
The peppermint bark fudge brownies are so simple to make. Just get a box of fudge brownie mix, break up some candy canes, and peppermint bark candy. Follow the directions on the box for the brownies and then mix in some of the peppermint candy cane in the brownie mix. Only pour half the batter in the pan and then lay the peppermint bark across the brownie mix then add the rest of the mix on top. Put it in the oven and there you go peppermint bark fudge brownies!
My bf makes chocolate covered pretzels the easy way. He gets the little knotted pretzels, the chocolate wafer candies, and M&Ms. You lay out the pretzels on a baking sheet and put the chocolate on top of the pretzels. Stick them in the oven for a minute or so this way the chocolate melts a bit so you can add on top the M&Ms. It's a much easier way then the way I make my chocolate covered pretzels which you can see here: Chocolate Covered Pretzels.
We did some major cleaning and some more little decorations since he bought more things while he was home in PA and everything was on sale.
So now the only thing left is to shower and get dressed for tonight! Here's a little sneak preview of my outfit for tonight!
Dress: Betsey Johsnon, Sequin Blazer and tights: Urban Outfitters, Bag: Zara, Necklace: Aldo, Earrings: Charlotte Russe, and Shoes: Steve Madden
I can't wait to get all dressed up! Of course I'll have pictures me in the actually outfit!
I hope you all have a happy and safe New Years Eve!!!

Inspirational Monday: SNOW!
It is madness here in NYC. We got hit with a ton of snow yesterday into early this morning. We got up to 20 inches of snow! Luckily many people are off today for the Holiday weekend and schools are closed till January 3rd. So, we sort of got cheated out of a snow day but either way there is something about snow that makes me feel like a little kid. Even in college my friends and I would go sledding which meant stealing lunch trays from the cafeteria and going onto campus and going down the biggest hill we had which was up by our science building. Now I spend the days hiding out at home watching the snow in comfy PJs, drinking hot chocolate, catching up on some Zs and blogging.

There's nothing like a snow to slow you down to make you do nothing, to just relax and be comfortable. Honestly, I wish I had a dog so I could take him out for a walk in the snow and play with him in the snow but there is no reason for me to go out there today....So I probably won't. Unless I dare to brave the snow and the hurricane force winds to take a couple of photos of the city covered in snow.
How do you spend your snow days?

Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Tonight I made my traditional chocolate covered pretzels for desert tomorrow night. I made them one year and every since then every Christmas Eve I make them for Christmas desert. They are simple to make but fun and you can really mix it up with different toppings. Last year I got creative and did coconut shredding. Since it was such a hit I did it again. I made chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles, peppermint sprinkles, candy cane, and coconut shredding.
YUM! I made 2 small trays and 2 large trays. Now they are sitting my fridge waiting to get eaten!

For those of us in the US there's only one day left for Christmas shopping...TODAY! Do you need some last minute Christmas ideas with out breaking the bank? Well I have a couple ideas up my sleeve for both HIM and HER!
For Her by poetofsorts featuring j crew dresses
1. Philosophy Peppermint Bark Dou: $15 - sephora.com; 2. Philosophy the Gingerbread Man: $25 - sephora.com; Forever21 High Gloss Ring: $1.50 - forever21.com; 3. Animal Long PJ Set: $55 - topshop.com; 4. Topshop Set of 3 Nail Polish: $19 - topshop.com; 5. Benefit Cosmetics Some Beauty To Love ($76 Value) Some Beauty To Love: $29 - sephora.com; 6. Essie for J.Crew: $20 - jcrew.com; 7. Urban Outfitters Faux Fur Slippers: $24 - urbanoutfitters.com; 8. Victoria Secrets Lipgloss Ornaments: $10 - victoriassecret.com; 9. Victoria Secrets Sparkle Eye Liner Ornaments: $10 - victoriassecret.com; 10. Urban Outfitters Flower Earring Post: $24 - urbanoutfitters.com
Sometimes soaps and bath stuff can seem so impersonal but there's honestly nothing better then getting Philosophy. And why not make bath time fun with some Christmas themed soap! Who says Christmas only has to be once a year? How about giving the gift of Philosophy The Gingerbread Man body scrub (which is rated 4.6 out of 5 on Sephora's website)? It's a sea salt body scrub that smells like gingerbread men and heats up in the shower or bath. This scrub will bring the joy all year around. Or what about Philosophy Peppermint Bark Dou (which is rated 4.2 out of 5 on Sephora's website)? It includes a mint chocolate candy shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath and lip gloss.
Gift sets are always a good idea whether it's make-up, perfume, body lotion, nail polish, or even candles. It all depends on the girl you are shopping for. If she's a glam girl do the Sparkle Eye Liner Ornament from Victoria Secret. It's perfect for New Years Eve and all year round glam. If she's a girly girl do the Essie for J.Crew Nail Polish set. This set includes the basic colors of pink and red (there are 4 different shades).
Instead of flowers or a poinsettia give her a boutique of flower jewelery. Forever21 has the most adorable flower rings in all different colors (black, pink, mint, and orange) and you can get them all since a single ring will only run you $1.50. Or do a pot of Flower Post Earrings from Urban Outfitters. It is a set of 5 earrings for only $20!
Why not get her something comfy but still good looking. Every woman even lounging around wants to look and feel good. Get her a PJ set from Topshop or give her feet the ultimate comfort but still fun chic look with the Urban Oufitters Faux Fur Bootie Slippers. Both these are perfect for the winter season. Nothing like cuddling up with some hot coco with super comfy lounge wear.
All these items have a bit of every woman and are more personal then just a gift card. None of these items will run you more then $55.
Slippers are always a great choice especially if your man is in college or you know someone that is. Slippers are the number one thing worn on and off campus but why not give him a good looking slipper like the American Eagle Suede Slipper and the American Eagle Men's Campus Boot. These are fashionable and not just your typical slippers.
If you know a guy that is an accessory type of man Topman (Topshop part for men) is your place to look. They have fantastic accessories like the three bracelets in the above photos. These bracelets can be dressed up and dressed down. They are also masculine and perfect for the rock and roller type or even the beach boy type.
Do you know a guy that dreams of a music career or just loves music? Why not get him something fun to lay his head down on like the Boom Box Pillowcase from Urban Outfitters. This will spruce up his living space.
The best part about these gifts that none of the $50. Also these gifts work for men of all ages.
I hope this was helpful and kicked started some creative last minute thinking! To my last minute shoppers I wish you all the best of luck!

What's going on here! So many outfit post! I know! I guess I have had time to actually share some pieces with you!
Anyway these pictures were taken at my parents place since I'll be with them for the Holiday. You can kinda see the tiny little tree that my dad and I picked out. I'll tell you what it's better then the one my dad really liked, that one was short and skinny! Thank god my four day weekend has now begun! Tomorrow will be spent doing last minute shopping with my mother (she always waits to Christmas Eve) but it'll be nice to spend sometime with her. I'm hoping to be able to find a chunky necklace while out and about for NYE. Other then that rest of this Holiday weekend will just be spent relaxing. So much needed relaxing!

My boyfriend and I celebrated Christmas this past Saturday because we won't spend Christmas together since he lives in PA and I live here in NYC. Neither one of us wants to give up our Christmas just yet with our families so we have our Christmas where we exchange gifts and make a special dinner together. My wonderful bf bought me this American Apparel skirt. This was basically the only thing that I really wanted that I had put on my list. I love how light and flowy it is. Perfect for wearing with tights and perfect for the spring/summer. I think you'll be seeing a lot of this skirt.
Friday during lunch I had hit up the Alexander Wang sample sale and bought myself early Christmas gifts. I bought this top along with these sweat pants that have leather trimming around the pockets. Both items I bought were from T by Alexander Wang. His full designer name line was still to expensive. Even though the sample sale had the fleece jumper with the hoodie it was $150 but after some heavy consideration I thought I'd wear by of my buys a lot more and they were just more particle. It was really hard to part with it but if it was less I would have bought it. If only I was a millionaire. But to be honest I'm just so happy to have anything by Alexander Wang. I even saved the tags...yea I'm a loser like that.
3 more days of work! Then CHRISTMAS!!! And a four day weekend!! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

"I WEAR MY SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT" FashionIndie Mixtape Listening Party
photo from www. christopherhallphotography.com
Thursday night I was invited to the "I WEAR MY SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT" FashionIndie Mixtape Listening Party by lookbooks.com and fashionindie.com. The event was a launch party for fashionindie.com's 60 minute mix tape. Their mix tape is a great blend of music that will get you pumped up for the weekend at work or even something to dance to while getting dressed. You can listen to this mixtape right on their homepage. Also, the night was to endorse Jinna from Grease & Glamour and Sunglass Hut Full Time Fabulous Finalist (you can read her full time fabulous blog here).
Fashionindie.com and Lookbooks.com put around some knock off sunglasses around their studio space along with props. We were all asked to have fun and wear some of the props which of course I took full advantage of.
I saw these red knock off Ray Bans that were missing the lens and I knew they were mine.
above photos from www. christopherhallphotography.com
I pretty much wore those sunglasses all night. Love love love them.
Jinna brought in some of her own sunglasses and the sunglasses that the Sunglass Hut sent her. It was fun to try on more expensive sunglasses mixed in with some knock of brands.
They even had an up and coming eye wear brand there called Activist Eyewear. These sunglass are 100% innovative, based out of Brooklyn, and have everything I dotted and every T crossed. This company really thinks about the costumer and tries to give the costumer a real costume feel. With each sun glass you buy you get a case that has an inside pocket for accessories, a lens cleaning cloth which is "tailored as a classic gentleman's pocket square..." (Activist Eye Wear cataloger), lanyard so that you can hang your glasses around your neck, and the box your sunglasses come in are hand stamped with the number of your sunglasses! If that's not costume enough for you they created a form fit which they call "Split Fit." According to their website the Split Fit is "...an unorthodox system that distributes the forces over a much greater area of the head, so the pressure is never concentrated at any one point. With a core of either stainless steel or Beta-titanium and an exterior sheath of rubber, Split-Fit™ is sculpted to perfectly balance strength, flexibility and weight, guaranteeing your Activist sunglasses will always be incredibly comfortable and secure."
These sunglasse feel unlike anything else. They are super fly and super comfortable. Of course these sunglasses come at an expensive price of $450 but are worth every penny. Check them out at ActivitEyewear.com.
This was a such a fun night. Who doesn't love playing with sunglasses, listening to great music, and chatting with other people that share your same passion?
Thank you to fashioindie.com and lookbooks.com for inviting me to this wonderful event!
