Kick-off Fall fashion season with a visit to our latest exhibition –
"Transparency," the world-premiere Spring 2011 collection by Russian-born
fashion designer Madina Vadache! On view, free of charge, from September 3rd
through October 2nd, 2010 at the Vilcek Foundation Gallery, this collection
features 19 debut designs, including a never-born-seen bridal gown, and is a
““fascinating and flawless intersection of modern art, architecture, and
fashion.”This unique collection marks the point at which Madina's artistic
vision meets its tangible creation. Through her experimental uses of fabric,
texture, and finish juxtaposed with classic style, her clothing demonstrates a
fluid movement of energy into matter. Her work is testimony to her keen
understanding of these myriad materials, which she allows to guide her through
the creative process. “I wanted to work with the nature of the fabric, not
against it,” she explains. In this, her newest collection, she utilizes
everything from leather and lace to feathers and beading as she explores the
theme of “transparency” -- striving to find the balance between her original
image of the work and the moment at which it is manifest. Ms. Vadache was born
in Dagestan, Russia, and trained at the Academy of Fine Art in the Republic of
Georgia; she now lives and works in Seattle. -Vilcek Foundation
